Any weave can be detangled with a little patience and a wide-toothed comb. You use a wide-toothed comb because it is less prone to breaking your hair than a regular brush would be.

Aleene’s Fabric Fusion

Aleene’s fabric Fusion is designed to adhere fabrics together but works fairly well and is commonly used as a weft sealant. It has a gel like consistency that doesn’t make the hair weft stiff as a board. It also dries fast and doesn’t lose any strength after it gets wet. The gel like consistency may not always seep into the hair weft very well and may require some dabbing in order to penetrate the wefts and seal them. Fabric fusion dries clear and works well in combination with other fabric glues.

Dritz Fray Check

Dritz Fray Check is one of the most popular products used to seal hair wefts. This glue is excellent because it is clear and does not leave behind a sticky residue after drying. Considered by many to be the best weft sealer, this product is not specific for hair wefts and could be improved if it came in a darker color.

Nevertheless, even after coming in contact with water, the sealant continues to work well but the bond may weaken after multiple washes. It does not leave behind a harsh smell and keeps the hair wefts intact for a long time without the need to reseal.  From jeans, to couches, to fabric and hair wefts, it;s hard to go wrong with Fray Check.

Shed Stop Weft Sealer

Stop Shed Weft Sealer is a dark colored sealant that bonds quickly to the weft. The glue is thin and comes with an applicator tip that makes it easier to apply the glue to the weft. The weft still remain flexible after the application and does not leave behind a strong odor. The glue stops a significant amount of shedding but comes in a small bottle that may run out sooner than expected.

Easy Track Weft Sealer

Easy Track Weft sealer is designed specifically for sealing virgin hair wefts. This sealant comes with an applicator brush and bonds the hair well. The product works well for removing nearly all the shedding. The downside to this sealer is that the smell can be very acidic and strong. It is often said to dry and leave a white residue after getting wet. The applicator brush makes this product a little difficult to apply and can leave an unwanted mess after application. Be sure to go slowly when using this product so as not to damage your hair.

Never Loose Weft Sealer

Never Loose Weft Sealer is a quality weft sealer that dries very quickly and comes in both dark and clear formulas. The bottle is small and you will need more than one to complete all of your bundles depending on how much hair you are planning to seal. The product is very similar to Stop Shed Weft sealer and may even be from the same manufacturer. They share many of the same characteristics and drawbacks with the exception of the dark color formula.

Aleene’s Stop Fraying

Similar to Aleene’s Fabric Fusion, this fabric glue does a good job of sealing wefts and stopping unwanted shedding. This product will absolutely decrease the amount of shedding on your hair wefts but does not dry as well as some other products. It has a tendency to remain a little sticky and gluey after application. The adhesive bond may also begin to fade over time and will require reapplication to continue to prevent shedding.

Choose Double Wefted Hair

Whether you hair is single weft or double weft, may not make a major difference when it comes to shedding.  I recommend double wefted hair because it is thicker and I’ve notices that it may shed less due to the double sewing.  The most important factor is the quality of the sewing. The process of double wefting may take longer and the hair may be more expensive, but the reduced shedding will make the process of sealing your wefts even more effective.

Co-Wash You Hair Before Sealing

Co-washing means to wash and rinse your hair with a high quality conditioner only. This process cleans your hair and conditions it without damaging the hair. Co-washing is a quick and simple solution that will not keep your hair healthy fro root to end. Co-washing helps to retain the moisture in your hair eliminate dullness. You will want to seal only clean and healthy hair that is not brittle or dry at the weft. Wait for the hair to dry prior to sealing the wefts. If you plan to color or dye your hair, you will want to dye your hair prior to sealing and after co-washing but before sealing.

Sealing The Wefts

After Co-washing and drying your hair, it is time to seal the wefts. Choose a weft sealant that bonds quickly, is flexible and does not leave any clumpy residue.  Make sure to apply the sealant to both sides of the weft. This guarantees a tightly sealed weft that will minimize shedding dramatically.

Choosing The Sealant

There are some weft sealants that are made specifically for hair wefts and provide a good bond without leaving residue or a white crust along the weft. A very reasonable alternative to hair weft sealants are fabric glues. Fabric glues tend to be moisture proof and also dry clear. Some of the fabric glues do not dry clear but leave a white or gray film once dry. I recommend looking at the bottle to see if it dries clear.

One key aspect of caring for your weft extensions is the installation method. To ensure that your weft extensions do not shed after installation, we strongly recommend that you instruct your stylist to observe and follow these key points:

Sew in the wefts by looping and tying the weave thread under and over the weft in a blanket stitch method.

Do not put a needle through the wefts or pierce the wefts.

Do not split the wefts.
Avoid cutting the wefts. If you have to cut the wefts, seal each cut weft with an acrylic sealer.

Post Installation Maintenance

Once natural hair is cut from a donor’s head, it stops receiving much-needed nutriments that nourish and keeps the hair soft, shiny & tangle-free. It’s therefore vitally important to maintain and treat your natural hair extensions with the appropriate maintenance products that will restore/maintain its natural softness, silk and keep it tangle-free.

Proper maintenance care using the appropriate product range will ensure that your hair extensions keep its shine and lasts for a long time. We recommend you use mild shampoos & conditioners; preferably sulfate-free and silicon free hair care products.

Step 1: Detangle your hair

This is a very important step prior to shampooing your hair.

Ensure that your hair is free of tangles or snares. Using a wide tooth or a detangling brush, gently comb out your hair extensions. Always comb or brush hair from the bottom up, small sections at a time. The more careful you treat your extensions the longer they will last. Support your attachment when brushing or combing your hair.

Step 2: Shampoo/Condition

Shampoo your hair at least once a week. Shampoo your hair more often if you have increased perspiration or have been in a dusty environment. Curly textures require frequent shampoos or co-washes to look its best hair. Clean your hair extensions with a moisturizing shampoo.

Wash your hair in a downward motion, working shampoo from the top down in one motion. Condition your hair with a moisturizing conditioner. Follow with the conditioner in the same manner. If the hair feels dry or heavy it is time to shampoo

Condition-Wash: Substitute conditioner for shampoo. Wash your hair in a downward motion, working conditioner from the top down in one motion. Rinse well and then style. This is great for curly styles.

Step 3: Deep Condition

To keep you hair in tip- top shape, use a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment in your hair twice a month. More or less, depending on the hair’s need. This is very important if you have chemically treated the hair or use irons.

Step 4: Styling

As mentioned in step 1, always keep your virgin hair extensions tangle free. Brush or comb gently and avoid any excess tension. Always comb or brush hair from the bottom up, small sections at a time. The more careful you treat your extensions the longer they will last. Support your attachment when brushing or combing your hair. We also strongly recommend the use of a de-tangling brush to comb your hair extensions every day so that it does not develop tangles especially in the nape area.

Heat is your hair biggest enemy. The more you use on it, the shorter the life span of your hair. Use heat in moderation. Do not use high temperatures. High temperatures can damage the hair, including permanently altering the hair texture. Use styling products that are alcohol free.

At Night: Put your hair “up” at night. Braid or pin curl your hair before going to sleep. This is important in preventing tangles. Never sleep with loose wet hair, for it may tangle while you sleep.

Try to use a wide tooth comb on your. Many people use a brush, but I would recommend not brushing your hair too often because brushing has a tendency to be harsh on the hair and is more likely to pull it out.  With high quality Virgin Brazilian Hair, you can expect to have it last for up to 18 months if it is well maintained and taken care of.

If you begin to notice that the ends get dry, use Argan Oil Hair Treatment. Rub it in your hands and apply it to the ends of your hair.  Argan oil is native to Morocco and is sometimes referred to as Moroccan Oil. It is instantly absorbed into the hair, penetrating the roots and improving the  elasticity of dry hair. The strengthening properties of Vitamin E in Argan oil will prevent damage to your Virgin Brazilian hair.

After washing, you can use a deep conditioning product such as Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Hair Conditioner. Leave the conditioner in your hair for approximately 15-20 minutes. If you have wavy hair, I recommend getting the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curls & Waves Hair Conditioner if you want to keep the wavy look.

After showering make sure to blot dry your hair with a towel.   While your hair is still moist, apply John Frieda Frizz-Ease to your hair. Once this is completed, make sure you air dry your hair.  You can then style it as you wish. If you apply heat to your hair when styling it, make sure that you put some heat protectant spray to prevent damage. Virgin Brazilian hair is natural and can be very sensitive to heat, causing it to dry out and lose its naturally protective cuticle layer.  Be sure to wash your hair at least once a week and follow a deep conditioning process.

When you plan to go to bed, take a few minutes to braid your hair into one or two braids and wrap you hair with a silk scarf. This will keep the ends of the hair from fraying.  If you have Virgin Brazilian hair, it is always better to keep it in its natural state for as long as possible before you apply any harsh chemicals or dyes to it. I recommend not adding any dyes to harsh chemicals to your Virgin Brazilian Hair if you can avoid it. This will keep it looking soft, silky and healthy for the longest possible time.
